Paramedic fatally injured at scene of threatened suicide

A Bensalem paramedic died last night of injuries suffered when he and others tried to approach an emotionally disturbed man who was threatening suicide, police said.

Few details were available. The paramedic, whose name was not immediately released, had gone with police to an address in the 2600 block of Kiansas Avenue at about 7 p.m. in response to a reported suicide threat.

The paramedic was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus and died there about an hour later, police said. His assailant was detained and was being evaluated.

"We're just trying to find out what caused this tragic incident," Bensalem Police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman told television reporters last night.

No, you can't do that. Then several others might have gotten hurt.
When officers or paramedics have to deal with a suicidal person, they should all be vested up. nada.gif
